How to Care for Your Cowhide Rug

Cowhide rugs are naturally durable and easy to maintain. With simple care, your hide will last for decades.

Daily Care Shake or beat gently to remove loose dust and debris. For flat surfaces, a light brush in the direction of the hair works well.

Vacuuming Vacuum in the direction of the hair using a low-suction setting. Avoid using a rotating brush head as it may damage the hide.

Spills & Stains Act immediately. Blot — do not rub — with a clean, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soap. Always wipe in the direction of the hair and allow to dry naturally away from direct heat.

Deep Cleaning Take your cowhide to a professional leather cleaner once a year if needed. Do not machine wash or submerge in water.

Sunlight & Heat Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which may cause fading. Keep away from radiators and underfloor heating zones.

Storage Roll — do not fold — with the hair side facing out. Store in a cool, dry place.
