Every Debbacowhide rug is one specific, genuine Brazilian cowhide with its own serial number — you will see it in the product name, for example "Serial No. 648". The serial number connects the product page, its photos and its measurements to one physical hide in our Istanbul stock. When you order, that exact hide is packed and shipped to you.

What does the serial number mean?

It is the identity of a single hide. No two hides share a number, and no two hides share a pattern, shape or size. The number lets you, and us, be certain which hide you are looking at and which hide you will receive.

Are the photos of the hide I will receive?

Yes. The overhead photo of the whole hide and the close-up of its texture show that exact hide, photographed in our studio. Product pages also include room images that help you picture how the rug could look in a living room, bedroom or office; these are visualisations of a space, while the overhead and close-up photos show the hide itself. There are no stock photos or "representative" images of other hides.

How do we measure each hide?

Each hide is laid flat and measured at its widest and its longest points. The two measurements are shown on the product page in centimetres and inches, together with the approximate area. Because a cowhide has a natural, irregular outline, the area is an approximation: the hide is narrower at the legs and neck than at its widest point.

As a guide, a hide of about 4 m² fits under a coffee table or beside a bed, while 5 m² and above works as the main rug in a living room. Hides of 5 m² and over are in our Large collection.

What happens when a hide is sold?

Each hide exists only once. When it is sold, it is gone for good, and its page points you to similar hides instead. New hides arrive every week; you will find the latest in New Arrivals.

What if the hide is not what I expected?

If a hide arrives damaged or is materially different from its photos, contact us right away with photos and we will handle it as a priority. You can also return any hide within 14 days of delivery for any reason — see Shipping & Returns.

Will I receive the exact rug in the photos?

Yes. The serial number in the product name is the hide you receive, as shown in its overhead and close-up photos.

Why is every hide a different size?

Because each one is a natural hide. Size and shape vary from animal to animal, which is why we measure and list every hide individually.

Are the colors natural?
